The Build Up

We are celebrating something big today. I tend to overdo birthday parties. I am well aware, and if you dare to point this out, I get backed into a corner like a cat facing a Mastiff. These kids are my life's work, and damn it, I am going big.



I am going to inflate no less then 5,000 balloons.



I am going to have the cutest cake I can whip up.



I am going to paint a board for pictures.



Yep. Overboard. It will all come together though and totally be worth the longest week ever of party planning. Well, I take that back. The build up to our wedding was a lot more stressful!



It has had me reflecting on this day though. I get overwhelmed trying to wrap my head around how fast this world had turned. This year had so much good. We shared lots of love, and had lots of moments. I am going to do my best to hold it together today, but I am going to take it all in. Pause and really see this celebration. And remember how far we have come. Even if he doesn't look like this at all anymore. I would swear that he wasn't even the same child if I hadn't seen the transformation myself!
